GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // APRIL 24, 2018
Gratitudes
I was lucky enough to second shoot with Tara Liebeck Photography down in Charlottesville at a venue I’ve been dying to see. King Family Vineyard has a beautiful rustic barn with horse country accents including polo details! The building has mega mountain views and you feel nestled right in the heart of Virginia. I ended up arriving to the wedding super early so I popped into do a wine tasting! I enjoyed the majority of their wines and ended up purchasing their 2017 Crosé. It was a super light crisp rosé with a tart hint of grapefruit. The wedding went super smooth, and the ceremony at the base of the mountains was really, really beautiful. I’ll be adding King Family Vineyard to my dream wedding venue list!
I started a new book for the Well Red wine + book club I’m in and it’s so good! Great Small Things by Jodi Piccoult walks through race prejudice in real time. This book has made me uncomfortable and furious at the same time. I’m only half way through, and I can’t put it down!
An OPI classic went on my nails this week, a nude appropriately named Bubble Bath. It’s a sheer peachy pink. I prefer to layer it on thick so it stands out. It took me 3-4 coats to get my desired look. I love that it matches everything and still makes your hands and nails polished <- see what I did there. haha! I have had many brides choose this color for their big day over a french manicure and I’ll always recommend it!
Sunday I went shopping with my Mom and decided to treat myself after moving and getting settled in. I found the most adorable minimalist 14kt evil eye ring with a blue eye stone. I love, love, love yellow gold jewelry and delicate rings so I knew I had to try it on. I was gifted a lovely Turkish evil eye pendant by my Grandma Jean years ago, but I wanted something understated that I could wear daily to bring me a bit of luck and protection. It’s a cute addition to a stack I started in Italy on my pointer finger. So far, no buyers remorse… but I typically don’t come down with it when I purchase gold.
Breakthroughs
Anyone ever gone home to visit their parents for longer than a week? While you were there did you catch yourself falling back into your old high school tendencies? A few times now I’ve caught myself relying on my Mom to make lunch or dinner. I have had to remind myself that I’m an adult and lived on my own for years, I don’t have to wait to make something for myself or the family. There are a few other examples like my Dad and I jockey for the coffee maker in the morning as well as the milk. If you’re the last one to use up all of the milk you have to go to the outside refrigerator in the detached garage to get a new milk to bring inside. There have been two times where I used half the amount of milk I normally do so that it wasn’t empty… yes, I was actually that petty. Haha! Eventually I needed another cup and broke down and went outside. Anyway, I’m trying to make an effort to maintain my status as an adult living with my parents versus reverting back to 16 year old Krysta. Has anyone else experienced this?
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo.
