GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // MARCH 20, 2018
Gratitudes
It’s been a long week of coordination, packing and trying to keep up with my blogging, social media and client galleries.
Tuesday after working at the winery I went to Public House in Old Town Manassas for the Tuesdays Together – Rising Tide Meet-Up. They were going over detailed tax changes for small businesses and I was also looking forward to hearing my favorite boudoir photographer Alex Chalkley speak about financial business goals: how to set them and how to reach them. This meeting was full of people, lots of new people to network with and to hear their financial goals for their businesses. I did learn a major change for me as a business owner, the deduction for meals/entertainment for clients no longer exists which is so sad because I love, love love taking my clients out for coffee and wine. I’ll have to rethink how I’ll be able to spend time with my people moving forward in 2018.
I’m pretty sure a combination of babysitting my niece and moving dusty/pollen coated furniture and boxes from the garage I caught a gnarly cold. It hit pretty hard on Tuesday, so at the meeting I opted for honey, lemon water over wine. I had to take a step back and create the time in my calendar to really rest and sleep, which meant cancelling a trip to Charlottesville with some of my favorite girls. You see, we had been planning a night away with a trip to Pippin Hill for the day and a nice dinner in downtown Charlottesville. I was so congested and had lost my voice that it didn’t make sense for me to go, even though I really, really wanted too. I watched their social media with intense FOMO, but I was able to get the rest my body desperately needed to put me on the mend.
Sunday was a big push for moving. My Dad and I took 2 truck loads of furniture, while my sisters took two car loads back to my parents place. I had been packing boxes and separating things to donate and trash, but I wasn’t feeling like I was making any progress. All of my big huge furniture pieces still took up a lot of space in the house so it looked full. After we moved those pieces it made a big difference. I’m thankful for the help of my family and feeling a little more at ease with such a transition.
Do you ever have weeks where you know you need to get shit done? This is that week for me, I’m working in between the packing to get ahead for the spring. So I knew I needed a powerful polish and this week I went back to a classic red. OPI’s Keys To My Karma is from their India Collection. It’s bright and punchy with a hint of power. It tends to lean a little more on the orange side than the blue as a heads up!
Breakthroughs
Again this week I don’t feel called to a big breakthrough, and believe me I’ve thought about it a few times. I do think with this move and reorganizing of my life and my priorities once I get settled in again I’ll be able to explain better what it is exactly that I’m feeling. But for the time being, I’m just trucking along trying to get through the process with an open heart and wide eyes. Maybe next week.
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo
